I was looking for a basic non HD video camera and this proved to be it. The 70 times zoom is a bit of an over kill but it works very smoothly. Ideally the wide angle could have done with being just a little wider but it fits the bill in other areas. Picture quality is good for a non HD camcorder. I have two minor gripes. The first is that it's a bit battery hungry but carrying a spare battery is no hardship. The second is that it's very light and this can make it a little difficult to hold steady; but then heavy units make your arms tired. You don't get everything at this price and overall I think its excellent value for money.

Bought this a few days ago after reading the customer reviews. Very impressed! Small and light so no more arm ache when recording video! Picture and sound quality is very good although not tried it on our TV yet. Only played back via the camcorder. Easy to use so would recommend this product.

Whilst the camera was effortless to use and light weight , with an excellent Zoom.
You should be aware of 2 things :-
1) in-door use produced very poor video recordings - even in the finest mode. I was replacing a 10year old Hi8 video camera and the images on the Panasonic SDRS-26 were nowhere near as clear as the hi8 and were much more grainy.
2) the battery life in actual use is only 40 mins and Panasonic do not produce batteries with a longer life.
I bought a JVL GZ-MS210 instead , it is a similar price and the images are upto the Hi8 qaulity that I was expecting.

A very simple-to-use first camcorder - ideal for the beginner - with simple, readable instructions to follow. Very lightweight and functional; you will, however, need accessories such as Card, case etc.
