2 out of 5 stars Disappointing   December 26, 2008

I wanted a digital frame with a calendar and clock as a present for a friend to have on his desk. After about twenty minutes of button pressing I worked out all the menus and options only to find that the "calendar and photo" option didn't work, it just displays a calendar. To make matters worse, whenever the unit is turned off the calendar and clock reset to the factory defaults even when the unit is left plugged in to the mains. Other irritations include the unit displaying a menu when turned on (rather than just displying the pictures) and a tendency to crop the heads off people even though my kodak frame with the same resolution and aspect ratio displays them with the heads intact. Picture quality was also disappointing compared with my kodak frame which only cost ten pounds more so all in all a big thumbs down from me.

1 out of 5 stars Absolutely Shocking   December 6, 2008

I'm no techno geek, but I do know that this product is just shocking. I brought this as a gift for my boyfriend who loves his gadgets. I did hear that you have to pay more for digital photo frames if you want a really good one, but at 40 I thought this one would be of reasonably good quality, and after doing my research I brought it with confidence.

When I loaded it up I wasn't impressed with the menu layout, which was very basic and didn't create a good first impression. To top that off, the term 'Hi Res' was just a complete lie! The picture quality is not fantastic at all.

When I went round to downloading some pics onto it, all was going reasonable well, until I looked back at what I'd downloaded. To my horror, when the pictures changed, they became distorted and turned neon pink and green- not a good look!!! I understand faults do sometimes occur, but I wasn't impressed with the overall quality anyway, and to be honest I would have been a bit embarrassed to give this to my boyfriend.

I had no choice but to return it, which was probably a good thing because it wasn't very good at all anyway!

I would recommend that people don't go for cheap digital photo frames, unless they're happy with having awful quality.

1 out of 5 stars Easy to use, good features... but rubbish quality   December 2, 2008

I was attracted to this photo frame by the previous reviews. I added some photos to the frame, as this was going to be a present for someone who is not very technically minded. I found the frame very easy to use, quite intuitive really - this point is important as the instructions are very poor. However, I was very disappointed by the quality of the playback. I know this frame is not meant to be high resolution, but the grainy quality of the images was very poor, especially when compared to the HP frame that I bought at the same time.

I've never written a review before - but I was so pleased with this item I had too!

I bought one as a gift, and have subsequently bought 3 x more as further xmas presents. It does exactly what it says on the tin. If your looking for higher res etc - then you need to buy a more expensive unit. Just switch it on and let it go - really easy to use functions, and has a timer to turn itself on and off by itself!

5 out of 5 stars perfect affordable gift   November 13, 2008

This photo frame is excellent value for money. It may not have some of the features you can get on more costly frames, but when you only need to display pictures and can't afford to go out and spend 100s on a gift this frame is ideal. It looks smart too! Especially in white!
