5 out of 5 stars Very nice camera   January 15, 2008

When I bought this camera I paid almost double this price, but it was worth every penny. It was the 10x optical zoom and the ISO 1600 setting that sold me on it. I had a 200 Canon before this and it just would not generate a good quality picture unless the lighting was almost perfect. This is a whole new story - a great picture regardless. At this price it is barely more expensive than the ones you see in the high street windows for bargain prices. Dont be fooled, this camera is 10 times better than most of them. I thought it looked a bit complicated for me in the pictures, but the auto (point and shoot) mode is great. I have started to dabble with the other settings and have had some good results. Think i need to invest in a Digital Photography book :) I will be staying with Fuji from now on....

5 out of 5 stars Simply Brilliant   November 23, 2007

Let me begin by writing that I am no expert!

However, I have owned 4 digital cameras (2 x Sony and 1 x Kodak and this one) and it is by far the most impressive..

I get great shots in A-Priority mode and for quick use Auto mode produces great results.

The 10x zoom was the reason for buying at the time and now i am a fan of Fuji FinePix - My next is likely to be the 9600 or I do quite like the new 18x zoom of the 8000fd.

5 out of 5 stars Value for Money   November 3, 2007

This camera is simply phenomenal. Why? For such a low price you get amazing picture quality. This seems to be true of all Fujifilm cameras. This maybe something to do with the patented CCD technology they use. This camera produces better images than my uncles Panasonic Lumix which costs about 300. The images also look as good as the very expensive SLRs like Canon Eos.
So for people who want a superb digital camera and are on a low budget i would strongly recommend anything in the Fujifilm range. I got this particular model because of the zoom.

5 out of 5 stars Fab basic-mid camera   November 1, 2007

I'm a pretty basic camera user.

Before getting this camera I didn't really bother to read/learn/understand the tech specs: I'd just try to point the thing and get tidy pictures.

This camera is better than that.

I bought the camera, thinking that it looked robust enough to survive the children I work with. It is. And then some.

I've owned several basic point-and-shoot cameras that have been priced at roughly 100 +/- 20... and then I happened upon this camera for the same money.

This is a much better model (money and function-wise 5 star versus 2). I love using it - and the quality I get when taking point-and-shoot-type shots has been enough to shame me into paying more attention to what my camera can do: the camera is as easy to use as a basic point and shoot, but I like it enough that I want to learn how to get the best out of it!

I've also loved the video recording function of this camera, which has proven to have better colour and sound quality output than my camcorder... for less than 3x the price!

5 out of 5 stars Brilliant Camera   October 28, 2007

This has to be one of the best budget cameras around. The image quality is second to none, and for the price, there are a lot of useful features. I own more expensive cameras than this model and this is right up their with them in terms of picture quality. It is also very easy to operate, most of the features are self adjusting, but there are many useful tweaks available in custom modes. Well worth the money, I paid 115 from Amazon in May 07 but it is now retailing at 299, so if you can get it cheaper, go for it, you will not be sorry.
