5 out of 5 stars Brilliant value camera   October 14, 2008

Had been using a Minolta SLR, and then bought this camera as got fed up with lugging it around and paying for getting pictures developed. If you want an affordable camera that takes great pictures & is easy to use then this is ideal. Would definately upgrade to another Fuji as this is reliable, works well with rechargeable AA batteries and has been a great little camera in the 2 years I've had it.

Fuji FinePix E900 Digital Camera [9MP 4 X Optical Zoom]

I bought this camera as a replacement for the E500 that I lost to thieves. Being an ameteur myself,I won't be giving a professional review. My experience with the camera so far has been a wonderful one. The camera looks and feels good. The picture quality is undeniably very good. Those who complain about it's failure to work have just been unfortunate. I've owned mine since Nov 2006 but have experienced no problems at all. The quality of the short home videos I've taken have been ok for me. Perhaps professionals know what ought to be but as for me I don't know what I might be missing, but until then I won't be worried by what I don't know. Somebody complained about a cable, mine came boxed with all the necessary cables, i.e. AC and USB.

On the minus side, I noticed that when I shoot pictures with one hand the pictures come out blurred due to a shake, so I use both hands for stability. I wonder if the problem is me being not steady or it is with the camera. On the other hand I have never seen the purple fringing people are moaning about - perhaps I need to look harder.

However, I have found the 4x optical zoom too limiting. Sometimes even indoors like in large buildings such as halls, especially when on video mode. Otherwise this a very good camera, not too small and not big just about right. A bargain indeed.

1 out of 5 stars FAULTY after 15 months   April 6, 2008

When I first bought this camera from Amazon I was really pleased with it. A couple of months after the 1 year warranty finished I started having problems. It started over exposing and then I started getting white lines all over each snap. After googling this fault I found it seemed to be a common one. There was no help on the fuji website, all they would do was charge £99.99 to try and fix the fault or offer me £40 for a trade in. DO NOT BUY IT. The features are great and when it works quality was good too but do you really want to risk developing this common fault?

5 out of 5 stars What a nice camera and selection of kit   June 28, 2007

I bought this great camera for my wife in May 07 from Amazon and it came in a big box. The kit included a 512Mb XD card, the ARFXE02 and the wide (22mm 35 equivalent) and tele (270mm 35 equivalent) conversion lenses, 2 NiMH batteries and a UK/Euro (nice touch)convertable pins battery charger.

It all arrived just in time for her trip to Italy and in enough time to impress her with its ease of use.

I have a Fuji F10 that I bought last year, this gave us the AC adapter that some reviewers were missing. I think that the 6.3Mpix Super CCD is slightly superior to the 9Mpix SCCD on the E900, better high ISO performance and lower CA (purple fringing in bright light). Though the latter is easily cured using Photoshop. However, the higher resolution, the viewfinder, accessories and RAW capture make this a good camera to own and use. The AA batteries don't last as long as the bespoke Fuji cell in the F10 but are not a problem for spares (we have literally dozens of AA NiMH batteries from older digi compacts and if all else fails standard AA cells are available everywhere).

Strange thing is that Amazon keep trying to get me to buy the lens conversion kit even though it was already included in the bundle.

I have had the camera a dew months and it you are an amateur and keen to learn like me go for it.
The camera does the work for you and the batteries are seeming to last forever, its a bit bulky if you want a small point and shoot camera but I Love it.
