HD Camcorder August 30, 2010 A Tool (uk) Great HD camera, very easy to use, fits nicely in the the palm of my hand. Pictures are crystal clear when played back on a HD television.
Panasonic HDC-SD10 July 1, 2010 Andy Ideal to handle ... for me, not too sure if you have very large hands as it is very small and compact. Take a bit of getting used to, not haviong a viewfinder, but after a short while I found operating everything from the touch screen very easy. Very good microphone, picks up every little sound, including the wind! havent quite worked out how to reduce it yet. Picture quality when replayed on HD television is very good but transfer time direct from camera to disc on my PC is slow. Takes about 2 hours to transfer 1 hour of video. A faster PC might help ! ... but transfer from camera onto PC is much quicker, reduced time by at least 75%.
Overall, very pleased with this camera.
Nice camera, shame about the software May 23, 2010 Mr. C. Tomkins (uk) To start off, the camera is nice as far as I can tell. I've filmed quite a fair bit with it.
The software is far less than ideal but there isn't much that can be done about it sadly. It's not mentioned on the apckaging how awkward the filetype that the camcorder records in is to deal with for beginners. The provided software for example did not work at all for me untill I invested almost an entire day into trying different software.(Urgh i had to register for soooo many trial packages :( )
Finally I googled the right question. "How to convert from HD..." and so I would reccomend to anyone else having difficulty to google for K-Lite Codec pack, research it to make sure it's safe for you for certain but it's what I ended up needing to get anything to work at all on my computer.(Windows 7)

Great wee camcorder. Bought this to take out to Peru to see my son and apart for the different zoom speeds between the top rocker and the screen buttons proved excellent in use. Ideal for the high altitude of the Andean Plateau. When on, opening the screen brought the system up in seconds and I never needed to use the pre-record button. The high def pictures are great. There could be a better editor supplied, but apart from that all round very good for the money.

I have had a JVC Hard drive camera for some time but realised with HD TV's etc that the quality needed to improve and so I looked around for a good value for money, easy to use camcorder and realised that the Panansonic HDC-SD10 was the right option for me.
I was quite excited when it arrived and after unpacking it I was surprised at its size and weight, so small and so light.
I started to play with it and try it out and soon found that its abilities far exceeded my old JVC.
The clarity was superb, sound great, menu options easy. Touch screen ooperations brilliant, zoom terrific.
Its easy to charge, easy to maintain.
So, have I any dissapointments? Yes.
Firstly, you don't even get an SDHC Card with it, so you have to buy one to try the camcorder! Then you have to consider how big a card to buy and how long the battery is likely to last. I bought a 8GB card and it's too small and so I bought a 16GB card as well. The battery lasts for about an hours recording so you might need to buy another battery as well.
The HD writer AE is not the nicest to use and limits what effects you can use when editing. It is particularly restrictive when using titles.
Overall pretty good BUT expect to spend more money on top of the original purchase price.
One extra tip, because it can be used as a digital camera with a separate flash, use a 1GB card just for photos and swap it with the 16GB when you want to record Video.
