| Customer Reviews: Does the job nicely August 30, 2010 BlackburnPete I bought this because I like to keep my cameras on my belt where they are safe and wanted a case that is just there for carrying the camera but out of the way when taking pictures.
The case is sturdy enough to feel like it will protect the camera from bumps and scrapes and sleek enough to sit fairly discreetly out of the way.
The catch works well with a reassuring click when fastened.
Once you get the hang of posistioning the lens cap and string at the right position then it all works well and its easy to get the camera in and out of the case.
Then all you need to do is buy a wrist strap for a couple of quid and your LX3 is good to go!
Just perfect January 30, 2010 C. McLean (New Canaan, CT) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I love my Panasonic LX3 camera, but I was disappointed to discover that Panasonic no longer makes (or, at least, doesn't distribute to the US) the camera's leather case. So I spent hours searching the Internet for advice on another case that might fit the bill. Somewhere along the line, I came across a recommendation for this black leather case from the UK, and I ordered it straight away. It's just what I needed. The camera fits perfectly (someone wrote that the bump-out in which the lens sits is too snug -- it's not). And you can carry the case over your shoulder, or on your belt (which I prefer).
The case isn't real leather, but it's a high-quality vinyl that looks and feels like leather, so, unless you need that leather smell, it isn't a problem. The only real downside is that the case fits only the camera. There's no room for a spare battery or the battery charger, or even for a backup SD card. The solution is to pick up one of those handy, inexpensive Case Logic cases at Best Buy (I think they're actually meant for small video cameras, but no matter) and put your new, form-fitting black (faux) leather hard case (and camera) inside of it. When I'm at home, the Case Logic case and the peripherals stay in my closet and the camera goes in the hard case on my belt. When I travel, I put everything in the Case Logic case and pack it in my suitcase. This may seem like an inelegant solution to the problem, but I find it works perfectly.
The LX3 is not a shirt pocket camera, but it's still small enough that I don't want to carry it around in a clunky camera bag filled with lots of other stuff. This Black Hard Leather Case provides a handsome, protective "skin" for the LX3 to live in. It's just right. Why didn't Panasonic bother to make this product themselves?
Just the job November 23, 2009 Mr. J. D. Rhodes (UK) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
This is an excellent case for the money. Rigid build giving ample protection. It fits on my belt when hiking and gives me very quick access. The custom fit means that it is very small for the level of protection - the long snout of the LX3 would require a reasonably large case otherwise. The 'retro' look matches that of the camera. The only downside is that it catches the aspect ration button on entry/exit so you need to keep an eye your ratio. When I first put my camera in the case I thought that the recess was disastrously tight against the lens barrel but a bit of thumb massage to loosen it did the trick and now it's a good fit. You can't use the camera from within the case like the official one but that's better in my view as this is a wrist-strap camera and feels a bit ridiculous with a neck strap.
LUMIX LX3 hard case November 10, 2009 P. A. Lazzeri (barcelona, spain) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
An excellent case for the price, the camera fits well, the case is well-made, it looks good and protects the camera well. Despite the name, it is not actually made of real hide but of synthetic leather, albeit of very high quality. When choosing the case it is important to note that there are two versions, in one the camera hangs horizontally and in the other vertically - one can distinguish by the position of attachment of the straps in the photo, but this is not made clear in the advert text.
Pretty good for £18 August 19, 2009 Sean Fowler (London UK) 16 out of 16 found this review helpful
The official case is around £80; cheapest I've seen is £65. To me that's a blatant rip-off.
I received this case today and the quality seems very good; nice and rigid, good stitching.
The description is inaccurate as you can't use the camera when it's in the case and there's no hole for the tripod. I think they mistakenly lifted those bits from the blurb for the official case. Not a big deal to me.
