Does exactly what it says on the tin. May 27, 2010 rollerskate (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love photography but find discovering really inspirational books that are worth buying difficult. Photography books tend to be either very technical, aimed at the amateur or full of the type of photos you have seen a hundred times. I know my way around a camera and am looking for ideas that are different and not bogged down with apertures, f stops and fancy lenses. This book does exactly what it says - it shows you how to photograph absolutely everything, without all the boring bits. The book is full of pictures, over 380 pages full of pictures. It gives advice and tips for improving just about any type of photo, both before it is taken and after. There is so much to inspire you in this book that taking your child to the park, wandering around your garden, a night out with friends or a shopping trip could all turn into a perfect photo opportunity, with some fresh original photos to show for it. Only the most jaded photographer will not find new ideas in this book.

It a good book. I had the option of buying a computer magazine giving ideas for photography projects or this, I opted for this as it has mcuh more to offer. And it does. I has a lot of ideas and tips within. However it doesnt offer any technical info which is a shame and feels like the one thing missing from the book.
His images are good and Tom Ang does cover pretty much all facets of photography.
Perfect birthday pressie, right on time! April 8, 2010 M. Alexander (London England) This book has really simple tips, for the practising photographer, or the complete novice, like my mum! She has used it frequently as it gives simple, clear advice on loads of aspects of photography.
Great to learn about composition not so good for technical knowledge February 12, 2010 Mrs. S. Sanger (London, UK) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
This book is quite good for an absolute beginner as it gives a lot of suggestions how to compose the perfect picture and goes as far as giving advice on how to put people that you photograph at easy etc. I however found the technical detail of how to set your camera lacking a little. Rather than suggesting the correct aperture or shutter speed for example the sample image guidelines often say "Use landscape or sports mode" etc. In some instances the author also refers to "Use the highest quality settings". Not sure what that refers to as the settings obviously depend on many factors such as light, desired depth of field etc. Good book for a happy snapper but wouldn't recommend it if you are serious about getting to grips with aperture/shutter speed/ISO relationship, as for metering, this is not even mentioned here.

A beautifully produced book with superb photographs to elucidate the text.
Very clear, concisely instructive chapters on a wide range of topics, for beginners as well as the more experienced digital photographer.
I was only slightly disappointed in the lack of hardback covers.Digital Photography Masterclass: Advanced Photographic and Image-manipulation Techniques for Creating Perfect PicturesDigital Photographer's Handbook
